I am glad through this testimony to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me in the past twelve years. From my birth I belonged to a well-known religious denomination, was educated in its schools and college, and was a devout believer until I heard of Christian Science for the first time. My life was not one to be proud of; and as my health failed, and three physicians advised that I could probably be cured in about five years' time of a blood disease, supposed to be caused from excessive cigarette smoking, I was glad to hear that there was a religion which taught the healing of the sick as practiced by Christ Jesus. I called on a practitioner, who advised me to read a few lines each day from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, our beloved Leader; and in three months I was healed, through this reading, of the cigarette habit, of using profanity, and or drinking. In six months I was healed physically of the blood disease, as well as a bad case of piles, colds, and other discordant conditions. I have had better health in the past twelve years (without a drop of medicine) than I ever thought could be possible.

At this period I was convinced of the truth of Christian Science, so notified my family that I intended to go to the Christian Science church. This caused opposition, and for two years the muddy river was stirred; but through it all I was protected. I am grateful for the healing of erroneous beliefs about God taught me in my childhood; and my experience is proving the power of divine Mind over error. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and in our branch church, where I have just finished serving as First Reader. I have had the privilege of class instruction. I am thankful for the right interpretation of the Manual. I might mention, in closing, that the slowest problem to yield was a belief of lack; but I am glad to say it, too, has been overcome. I cannot find words to express my gratitude for the periodicals, especially the Monitor, which gives me daily the clean news of the world.
