I wish to give a testimony of gratitude for Christian Science...

I wish to give a testimony of gratitude for Christian Science, for without it I feel that I would not be here to-day. I have received so many blessings from its study and application that I hardly know where to begin. I took up the study of Christian Science for physical benefits, but I received much more, mostly spiritual benefits. I was first healed of a disease that had left me a cripple. The joints were stiff and I could not straighten my arms or limbs, and could turn my head but very little. The healing was not instantaneous, for which I am very grateful, as it made me more patient, and I studied more and consequently gained more spiritual insight. I had been ailing, I guess, since birth, but had been a cripple for six months. I was healed in about six weeks. My little girl has not tasted medicine for three years and in that time has been healed of sore throat, of a children's disease, of fever, a protruding pile, and an injured limb, which resulted from a sixty-pound cement block falling on her knee from a height of three and one-half feet. Some who saw it said the limb was broken, but I did not let that thought creep in. We relied upon God through the study of Christian Science, and on the tenth day the child walked, and in two weeks the limb was perfect.

I am grateful for the literature as I am living where there is no church, although I have been enabled to attend services and still live in the same place. I am grateful for the practitioners as I feel that without their loving, patient assistance one would not make much progress when seeming to be engulfed in material sense. The more I study, and receive help, the more thankful I am to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, for it is through the purity of her life that we have the healing truth. When we ponder the trials she encountered without the help that we have, such as the literature, lectures, pamphlets, we can only remain mute, as words will never express our gratitude; only our works will show how much gratitude we express.—(Mrs.)Martha Chilcote, Walbridge, Ohio.
