It is with loving gratitude that I write my testimony for the Sentinel. Only a few years ago I learned of the truth that sets mankind free. Upon reading for the first time the chapter on Prayer in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I experienced an instantaneous healing of the eyes. When I began to read I recognized instantly that what I had been longing for, the truth, was before me. I lost myself so completely in the book that two hours passed before I awakened to the fact that I had been reading without the help of glasses. At first I could not realize that the healing had taken place, but from that hour to this I have not felt the need for glasses, which proved to me the healing power of Truth.

I took up the study of Christian Science for the physical healing of a disease that was slowly wasting my body. After doctoring for three years with five different doctors, and having used a number of different patent medicines without receiving benefit or relief, man's extremity became God's opportunity, and my thought was directed to Christian Science. The instantaneous healing of the eyes uplifted my thought so that my whole being was filled with thankfulness to God and gratitude to Mrs. Eddy. In humility I prayed for light and understanding, which were given to me. I was led to ask for treatment from a practitioner, but after two treatment I decided to work out my own problem. In five months of prayerful study I was healed.

I have experienced numerous healings in the time I have been studying Christian Science, and words cannot express my thankfulness to God and my gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for this wonderful blessing to mankind. The mental uplift and the knowledge of my true being is more wonderful than the physical healing. My greatest desire is to help mankind, and at present it is made clear to me that I can do that by more prayerful study and by letting my life attest my sincerity.—Mrs. L. A.
