I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done...
I feel very grateful for what Christian Science has done and is doing for me every day, and take this opportunity of testifying to the healing power of divine Love, hoping to encourage some seeker after Truth not to yield to discouragement.
In 1917, while I was being cared for in a hospital, ill with Bright's disease and, as two physicians said, with only a short time to live, some friends advised my wife to have me take Christian Science treatment. I therefore commenced to study "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," together with the Bible, and after five absent treatments from a practitioner the light of Truth began to shine clearer and I began to feel much better. I lost no opportunity to study while in the hospital; if only for a few minutes at a time I would pick up the Bible or Science and Health and read. The Bible seemed like a new book to me. In five weeks I was able to leave the hospital and travel two hundred and fifty miles to a city where the practitioner lived. There I had the privilege of attending the Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings as well as receiving treatment. At the end of one month I returned home and took up my work again, at which I have continued steadily ever since. I have also been healed of catarrh and of the tobacco habit of twenty years' standing.
The peace of mind and the happiness that have come into our home through Christian Science are a further proof of man's oneness with God. Being located where we have not the privilege of church attendance, we fully appreciate the foresight of our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in providing the Quarterly and the other literature, which is indeed manna from heaven. Our daily prayer is for a better understanding of Christ as we are taught in Christian Science.
