I have had many beautiful healings of sickness and sorrow during the few years that I have known of Christian Science. There is one, however, which stands out most clearly.

Some time ago I awoke one night not feeling well, and soon after getting up I fainted away. On regaining consciousness I found myself lying on the floor bleeding at the mouth and nose and with a deep gash on my head. As soon as I could, I declared the truth as taught in Christian Science, but the wonderful part is that a tide of helpful thoughts and passages from the Bible flooded in when I was not yet conscious of the body and did not know what had happened. This phase of the experience brought to me a glimpse of the reality of Life in God. It is not the brain which thinks, nor so-called mortal mind. "Mind controls body and brain," Mrs. Eddy says on page 79 of Science and Health; and I can understand now what she tells us on page 488 of the same book: "Mind alone possesses all faculties, perception, and comprehension." When I was entirely conscious again Truth had done the work so effectually that there was no room for either fear or doubt. Bleeding and pain stopped immediately, I got up in a few minutes, and in less than half an hour went back to sleep with a heart full of gratitude for God's healing power. Soon the wound knitted together and after a few days there was hardly a mark left.

Since "Love is impartial" (Science and Health, p. 13), the truth which healed me must be available to all those who face the onslaught of evil.
