Christian Science has awakened the human consciousness...
The Blue Rapids (Kan.) Times
Christian Science has awakened the human consciousness from a mere belief in the Word of God as found in the Holy Bible to the scientific knowledge of the teachings and demonstrations of Christ Jesus, whereby mankind establish their faith by their works. The Galilean Prophet not only preached the gospel of Christianity but the greater portion of his ministry was devoted to healing the sick and sinning. Jesus' life offers to humanity a present salvation through works, rather than a blind trust or belief in a blissful hereafter. His demonstrations proved the truth of his teachings and made the way clear for mortals; thus he said, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father." Then he gave that rule whereby all who profess to be his followers might know or prove for themselves whether or not they are really worshiping the Father in spirit and in truth: "And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
Sin and sickness are unreal because they are untrue; they are untrue because they have no foundation in Principle; they are without cause, substance, or law; thus their claim of reality is truly suppositional. The fundamentals of mathematics do not know or treat of mistakes: no rule of application is given whereby mistakes can be made. Yet this law of numbers does impart an infallible rule for demonstration, and he who honestly applies its teachings will avoid the universal claim or belief of mistakes and thereby prove for himself the truth of numbers. So it is with the truth of being, the Science of existence. God is. The universe and man exist because of this fact. The teach ings of Christian Science reveal to mankind the scientific Principle and rule of life which admit of nothing unlike God, thereby clearly showing that into the consciousness which is filled with the spiritual knowledge and glory of God, nothing can enter "that defileth... or maketh a lie." If Christianity does not impart this clear, comprehensive, and demonstrable way of the Christ, it is futile to humanity.
