Extracts from Letters

[Received from Switzerland]

"I received the kind gift, and thank you heartily. I felt that divine Love would always sustain me and lead me; and it surely did, when I was standing before an abyss and knew not how to cross it. For this and many blessings which I have received through Christian Science, I thank God with all my heart, and hope that the light of Truth may penetrate into all hearts. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and all who have helped me to find this way of divine Science, from which I will never be separated. Once more accept my deep gratitude."

"My deepest thanks to The Mother Church in Boston, and all benefactors of this Christian source of help, and for all the assistance received during the war. I am happy to know the beautiful teaching of Christian Science. I have found through it the peace of mind which the world cannot give, as well as enlarged faith in God. Praise and thanks be to divine Love!"

"I wish to express my deep thanks through the distribution committee in Winterthur for the gift received during the war from the War Relief fund in Boston. It is my eager desire to perfect myself in this beautiful religion, and I hope that many people may find this way of understanding."

"With sincere thanks we acknowledge the loving gift received from The Mother Church in Boston, through the distribution committee of Christian Scientists in Winterthur. We are filled with joy and courage and have been convinced through this grand teaching that God meets every need."

"Allow me to express our deep gratitude for the proof of divine Love, in the form of financial support, which you have sent us. I was very sad before Christmas and thought myself incapable of giving my children the least joy. Then I found that 'man's extremity is God's opportunity,' for I was sent relief. Our joy was great, and we perceived that God cares for His children."

"I desire to express my sincere gratitude for the financial support which I have been able to receive through Christian Science. True Christian friends knew of my distressed condition at one time, and without being asked, they spoke for me. Just at the right moment, when I most needed direct financial support, it came to me through Christian Scientists, by means of these kind friends, to such an extent as to be very helpful.

"In good deeds or any relief for material or spiritual needs, there is more Christianity than in mere kind words. The field is indeed large on which Christian Science works in this unselfish way."
