Among the Churches
Current Notes
Riverside, Cal .—The Christian Science literature booth, being maintained this week [Oct. 13-17] at the county fair, is under the joint auspices of First and Second Churches of Christ, Scientist. All of the Christian Science publications are on display, and the Christian Science periodicals, consisting of the Journal, the Sentinel, Der Herold der Christian Science, and the Monitor, are being given away to those who wish them.—Riverside Press.
Corvallis, Ore.—The Christian Science Society of Corvallis, which has been holding its services in a room over the First National Bank, is now occupying a bungalow church which was recently built for its use. The building will seat nearly two hundred, and it also contains the reading-room. The society has been organized five years and the attendance is steadily increasing.—Correspondence.
Flushing, N. Y.—Christian Scientists of Flushing, and their friends from all sections of the borough, will hold their first service in the new stone and brick structure in course of erection at Sanford avenue and Murray street tomorrow morning [Oct. 4]. The service will be held in the chapel of the edifice each Sunday until the completion of the building.

Helena, Ark.—Temple Beth-El has been sold to a Christian Science congregation.—Hebrew Standard.
St. Paul, Minn.—In February, 1908, First and Second Churches of Christ, Scientist, united under a new charter, that of First Church of Christ, Scientist. Within one year after this union, our church edifice was found too small to accommodate the increasing attendance, so a hall with a much larger seating capacity was rented. This, too, was soon outgrown. In the spring of 1910, arrangements were made to hold services in the new Masonic Temple, which it was thought would be adequate for some time; but with the growing interest and the ever-increasing attendance, the members of this church found it necessary to enlarge their accommodations, and therefore decided that it was an opportune time to build. A lot 100 by 260 feet, facing three streets, was secured, and the foundation for our church building was laid in the fall of 1912. The superstructure was begun the following summer, and completed in June, 1914.

Arkansas.—Two sets of books identically alike were sent to the battleship U. S. S. Arkansas, in care of Capt. Roy C. Smith, commanding, by the Christian Scientists of this state. One set is for the library of the officers and the other for that of the enlisted men. Each set contains a Bible, and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, together with a copy of each of Mrs. Eddy's other writings, as well as "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" by Sibyl Wilbur, and a copy of the Christian Science Hymnal. Including duplicate subscriptions for a year to The Christian Science Monitor, the Journal, Sentinel, Herold, and the Quarterly, the value of the collection amounts to a little less than one hundred dollars.—Texarkanian.
