Letters to our Leader

Chattanooga, Tenn., July 16, 1905.
Rev. Mary Baker G. Eddy, Concord, N. H.

Dear Mrs. Eddy:—Ten thousand dollars was given to our church on condition that we raise an equal sum for the purpose of erecting a church building. We had contributed a little over a thousand dollars towards this when, because of expressions from various members, the Directors called a meeting of the members, and in a session notable for harmony it was voted unanimously to send the contributions to The Mother Church Building Fund. We feel that it is a great privilege to prove that we are a branch of "the stem of Jesse," to show by sacrifice of selfish interests that we are members of the one body, the Church of Christ. Your definition of gratitude, as growing in our hearts, will erect a building in Boston meet for the Master's use.

Yours sincerely,
Lucy Holtzclaw, First Reader.
