Our Tonic
This thought was given me by a dear friend in Christian Science, and thinking it very helpful I wish to share it with all students of our Bible lessons.
A daily study of these lessons serves as a tonic. We get thoughts of Life, health, and strength, and how to apply them in our daily lives. How much greater benefit we receive from our Bible lessons than from any material tonic we ever tried. The latter lulls us to sleep, while the former awakens us by giving us a true understanding of what constitutes health.
Possibly we do not realize at the time the impersonal help we received, but unconsciously we do get help and can help others by a careful study of our lessons daily. I find it most helpful to study our Bible lessons from the references given in the Sentinel for the revised edition of Science and Health. The thought may suggest itself, that we do not have time to study these lessons daily, but if most of us compare ourselves now, to our condition before we had any understanding of Christian Science, we find we used to take time to be sick, and to lie down to rest, even if we were not sick, for fear we would be. We should feel stimulated with the only stimulus, divine Mind, and know that we do have time.
