If I Could

If I could call my thoughts to me,
And read them over with the prayer,
That I might justly judge and see
If all these thoughts were true and fair;
If I could call my thoughts, and then,
Could read each slowly, one by one,
I wonder if I once again
Would send them out as I have done.
I wonder if there would not be
An added kindness, here and there,
When these thoughts went again from me,
If I could send them with a prayer.
