Healed of Many Ills by Christian Science
I was never very strong, but suffered during my childhood from headache and backache, which finally culminated in a life of invalidism. For nearly twenty years I was never for a moment free from pain. I was confined to my bed, unable to sit up at all, for sixteen years. I suffered the most excruciating agony from neuralgia, caused by a broken-down nervous system, spinal affection, and internal troubles. I, too, suffered many things of many physicians, who I believe did the best they could for me, but only one seemed to give me any relief, and that was but for a short time.
For fourteen months I wore a plaster of paris brace, and was worse at the end of that time than when I began. Last of all I tried the electropoise, and after using it eight months I thought my days on earth were numbered, as did all my friends. I wrote what I believed to be my last letters, and quietly waited for the end.
At this time I heard of Christian Science, and decided to try it just as an experiment. I began to improve at once, and gained steadily, though my recovery was slow. With many others, I could see that this was an advantage rather than a drawback, as I gained spiritually. A realization of this great Truth began to dawn upon my understanding, wherein old things pass away and all things become new. I received three months' absent treatment from a faithful practitioner in Baltimore, Md., who led me so patiently and tenderly but firmly into this new-old Truth. After the three months' regular treatment she stopped treating me, and I called for help when I needed it until I finally came out of the error that had held me in bondage for so many years. I soon began to demonstrate for myself and to help others.
