Because there appear in the Sentinel items relating to the war and the policy of the administration, is it to be inferred that the Sentinel favors the war, or endorses the policy of the administration? —F. B.
In the Christian Science Weekly of November 3, 1898, we said editorially we wished it distinctly understood that we did not reflect our own views in the promiscuous articles appearing in the Weekly; that they were a reflect only of the general views of writers and thinkers.
We have not changed our position one iota since that was written. We are responsible only for what is said editorially. The Sentinel is in some sense a newspaper, and because it publishes items of news relating to current events— including some events of the war—it should not be assumed that we favor the war or endorse war measures.
