A message from the Board of Trustees of The Christian Science Publishing Society
Dear Fellow Members:
The Christian Science Publishing Society has been prayerfully considering our Leader’s counsel about the need for focus. She writes: “Christian Science is not an exception to the general rule, that there is no excellence without labor in a direct line. One cannot scatter his fire, and at the same time hit the mark” (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 457).

To better focus our efforts, we are asking ourselves with each current initiative and new idea, “Does this actively strengthen and further Church members’ individual practice of Christian Science? Does it support Christian Science branch churches and societies?” This emphasis has provided a fresh opportunity to consider how our work corresponds to the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy and decisions she made about her Church and its periodicals.
This reflection brought us to several decisions, including these new initiatives, launching this year and into 2027:
Refocusing daily metaphysical publishing. Mrs. Eddy established The Christian Science Monitor as the original channel for daily metaphysical content, which is currently titled A Christian Science Perspective. Instead of maintaining three daily channels—the Daily Lift, Daily Thought, and Christian Science Perspective—we’re consolidating efforts into a fresh presentation of the daily Christian Science Perspective feature, available in both audio and text.
Including free digital access with all print subscriptions. This is a new feature for the Sentinel, The Christian Science Journal, and the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons, and is already available for The Christian Science Monitor. This offers versatility without altering our commitment to readers who love to read in print.
Extending free trial offers for digital products. This will make it easier for Church members and subscribers to share our periodicals, including the Monitor, with those who are interested.
Offering additional ways to subscribe easily to one or more periodicals. This will help more members fulfill the Manual By-Law, Article VIII, Sect. 14, “It shall be the privilege and duty of every member, who can afford it, to subscribe for the periodicals which are the organs of this Church . . .” (p. 44).
As a result of these new initiatives, the following offerings have become redundant and will cease in the coming months:
Christian Science Daily Lift
Christian Science Daily Thought
Download Hub for the Sentinel, Journal, Monitor, and Bible Lessons
If you are currently receiving the Daily Thought or Daily Lift, you’ll learn details of the forthcoming shift to the Christian Science Perspective from that daily email.
Throughout the history of our movement, initiatives have changed as the needs of the Church change. We thank you for prayerfully considering these shifts with us and giving us time and space to try new things—exploring new channels of thought for individual prayer and for the continued progress of branch churches.
