Eye on the world: Learning from examples of excellence

In an editorial titled “Body cameras can help police to perfect their work,” The Christian Science Monitor suggests that police body cameras “... could be used as a valuable teaching tool in highlighting the many cases in which police officers acted well,” observing, “Too often a profession is forced to focus on its errors rather than its excellence. This can distort or slow reform.”

More ideas on this subject:

From Mary Baker Eddy: “Let the perfect model be present in your thoughts instead of its demoralized opposite. This spiritualization of thought lets in the light, and brings the divine Mind, Life not death, into your consciousness” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 407).

In “The Perfect Model”: “Those who deal swiftly and decisively with evil and reject it utterly, holding steadfastly to good, will naturally find more good in their experience than those who contemplate evil.”

In “Let's Accept the Perfect Model”: “Error tries to stop us from thinking that which is true of ourselves, from accepting the perfect model,” and, “We can protect ourselves … by identifying ourselves with all that is good and true and keeping our gaze fixed on the perfect model.”

In “Look Up”: “Looking away from the false concept of man to behold him in the likeness of his Maker, we may find release and healing for ourselves and others, and bless our enemies.”
