I am a listener

I am not a poet—
one who lets words
            decorate the page
like dewdrops edging the morning blade of grass.

I am not a poet—
     who chisels thought,
            walling all meaning in
                        one stroke at a time,
as the sculptor exposes soul in stone.

I am a listener.
I hear the voice of Spirit
                        as it whispers new connections.
