Healing after a water skiing accident
Water skiing was not going well. I was at a summer camp for Christian Scientists, where I’d decided to try this activity for the first time. Now I was tired from multiple attempts that had ended in face plants and in getting my skis stuck underwater. But I really wanted to have at least one success, so I decided to try one more time.
“Hit it!” I shouted, letting the boat driver know I was ready for my turn.
As soon as the words left my mouth, the boat took off. But once again, I couldn’t get my skis up. As I tried to let go of the rope, something got caught, and I ended up being pulled by the boat with my leg halfway under the water. My leg got yanked pretty hard, and I felt intense pain.
