Pray about my summer plans?
If it’s summer, it must be time to go to Colorado! Every year my family visited the picturesque mountain town where my mom grew up, enjoying the beautiful scenery and the largest mineral hot springs pool in the world. It was so much fun . . . until I became a teenager.
One summer during high school, I decided I would rather spend the week at my grandmother’s house near our home. My best friend and I planned to go to the local swimming pool every day, where we were sure we would have more fun than my younger siblings would be having in Colorado.
I made this decision at the last minute—the evening before my family was supposed to leave. But as it got later and later, I began to feel conflicted, so I went to talk with my mom. She said the decision was mine but suggested I pray about it, as I’d learned to in Christian Science Sunday School. In the past, when I hadn’t known what to do, praying had always brought a feeling that God was guiding and taking care of me. And the path had always become clear. Why not this time, too?
