Prayer that moves you forward
It wasn’t very windy, so we weren’t sure the conditions would be great for sailing. As we readied the boat, I noticed that everyone else on the water that day had chosen a rowboat. With great effort, some had rowed out into the middle of the pond, but others were making less progress—moving in circles more than a straight line.
We hoisted the sails and shoved off from the dock and then—much to our surprise—caught a gust of wind and were darting across the water. I was amazed by the effortlessness of our motion: All we had to do was orient ourselves toward the breeze and the boat would scoot along with almost no help from us.
How do we have more of those moments of sailing, rather than rowing, in prayer?
