God: A constant in my life

My mother was introduced to Christian Science by her mother-in-law, and so I grew up in a household that practiced Christian Science. My parents had three girls, and we had Sunday School in our home because we were the only Christian Scientists in our small Idaho town.

Later, when a few others in town joined the informal group, church services were sometimes held in another member’s home, although my sisters and I were almost always the only children. My mother was our Sunday School teacher. I remember singing recorded hymns and learning Bible stories. When my sister and I went to college, it was our first opportunity to attend a branch church Sunday School regularly, and we appreciated learning along with other young people.

I grew up loving and trusting Christian Science. My family experienced many healings. I was told I was healed of mumps when only six weeks old, and, in later years, I was healed of the effects from a fall on ice.
