“Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole”

Originally published in the February 1, 1890 issue of the Christian Science Series (Vol. 1, No. 19)

Note these words of Jesus, uttered centuries ago, when he rejoiced to find “such faith.” He did not say “I, Jesus, make thee whole, or heal thee,” but simply “Thy faith hath made thee whole.”

This is precisely what Christian Science is doing to-day. It practises and uses nothing whatever but what our great teacher, Jesus the Christ, practised and used in his healing the sick, and casting out devils. If other methods be employed, it assuredly is not Christian Science that proposes or sanctions. Christian means Christ-like. What a misnomer then, to term Christian Science, that which is palpably and diametrically opposed to both teaching and practice of Christ!
