Spirituality restores pet to perfect health

During the pet food recall in the United States, one of my beloved toy poodles became very ill after eating tainted food. Over the course of a few days, my little pal—a five pound “teacup”—had all the symptoms of severe kidney failure. Fearing for his life, I contacted a Christian Science practitioner and asked her to pray with me. She immediately reminded me that my dog was a spiritual idea and gently dispelled my fears, lifting my thought above the disturbing condition he seemed to be in.

The practitioner assured me that my precious little Guy was embraced by God’s goodness and that his life and being were found in God. As it says in the Bible, “For in him we live, and move, and have our being.” This was an important reminder that God guarantees the safety of all His ideas—not just a choice few, and that this safety is like the ark that Noah built, lifting God’s ideas to safety above the flood waters.

In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy provided a spiritual concept of safety in her definition of ark: “Safety; the idea, or reflection, of Truth, proved to be as immortal as its Principle….
