Prayer about—and for—the Internet

It’s hard to imagine life without the Internet. It’s such an amazing source of information, entertainment, and community. It connects people and resources around the world 24/7.
But for all the good it brings to me through my computer, it also sends a deluge of pop-up ads and email advertisements for things I’m not at all interested in. Sometimes these are just a nuisance, and other times they aren’t—like the pornography that shows up as emails or when I click on seemingly innocuous links.
For me, the pornographic messages were more an annoyance than anything else at first. I wondered who would actually be attracted by this stuff anyway and tried not to let it bother me. But as it became more pervasive, I began to think more deeply about the warped picture of society that it’s sending.
