In a school lockdown, I felt God's protection

Originally appeared on spirituality.com.

One day at my high school in Minnetonka, Minnesota, school authorities found out that drug dealers who had threatened the school with guns, had snuck into the building, threatening students and demanding money from them. School had always been a safe place and I'd never questioned my safety there until this incident.

Many students—myself included—were extremely afraid as alarms sounded throughout the school. We were ushered into classrooms and the doors were locked.

It was hard to be calm. I felt as though my friends and I were in danger. Instinctively, I turned to God. I attend Christian Science Sunday school regularly and there I’ve learned about God’s power and protection.
