Do "germs" make us sick?

“Fearing is believing!” This advertisement for a recent horror movie greeted me each time I went online to check my email. Based on what I've learned about the nature of life and the universe through my study of Christian Science, it made me smile—because I know it is absolutely true.

When we fear something, we buy into the idea that we can be harmed by it. And when we believe something can harm us, we fear it.

These two aspects of thought are inextricably linked. It would certainly be legitimate to fear something that could harm us. But all too often what we fear is actually powerless—unless we are willing to give it power by believing in it.
