Let your light shine

I experienced an unexpected jolt when my marriage of 20 years ended. Though my husband and I had problems for many years, I’d been fearful and extremely reluctant to consider a separation. I believed marriages were supposed to last a lifetime, no matter what. Besides, my emotional and financial well-being and sense of security seemed dependent on staying married.

Eventually it was clear that separation was inevitable because of fundamental differences between my husband and me. Yet, I still felt I’d been propelled out of everything I’d considered necessary for a happy and complete life. The way ahead looked dark and lonely.

In the midst of this situation, I found study of the Bible and Mary Baker Eddy’s bookScience and Health a great comfort. I learned that each of us is a very precious child of God. Everyone has been created for a purpose—the very special job of expressing God.
