Border trouble or God's kingdom?

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

Around the world, nations are struggling with the influx of nonnative people, arriving to seek opportunities not present in their home countries. Many immigrants relocate legally, but some use illegal means to enter their intended new country, and the presence of this “undocumented” population affects society at many levels.

Debate abounds on everything from economic issues to environmental impacts. Critics claim illegal immigrants put strain on social services. In California, for example, a number of hospitals have been forced to close because they are not reimbursed for treatment given to undocumented patients.

Many feel that tighter border security will help to ease the problem, but I doubt that it will reduce the desire for a better life that drives many to cross the border illegally.
