Every day can be an adventure

We've always considered ourselves an adventurous family. Together with our two kids, my wife and I have been on some incredible trips in fascinating parts of the world. We've swum with dolphins in New Zealand, climbed a volcano in Costa Rica, and traveled through Peru and China.

But adventure isn't just about having an appetite for thrill-seeking and risk-taking. There's a broader definition that stems from the root word advent, which means the arrival of something awaited or momentous. It's often used during the Christmas season, which celebrates Jesus' birth and the expected "advent" of the Christ-message of God's love for humanity.

This expectancy of discovering good motivates my family to be adventurous travelers. It's also a lens through which we try to approach our daily life—with curiosity and childlike expectation.
