A spiritual view restored my eyesight

Originally appeared on spirituality.com

I live in a retirement community, and often hear from my neighbors about the many challenges they have dealing with longevity. My own most recent experience was when one of my daughters was concerned about blindness in my left eye. They recommended that I consult an eye specialist.

To comfort them somewhat, I consented. After many tests, I was told I would need two operations: one to remove a cataract and another to correct a drooping eyelid. I thanked the specialist and told him I would think about it.

But I told my concerned loved ones that I would not have the operations. Instead, I was going to let the ever-present Christ and prayer do the work.
