THE MASTER'S WORK

My Master's work would not be done Should my hand slack, or fail my feet Love's calls to heed, His errands run; On should I halt with message sweet To hungering hearts and souls downcast, Their wounds to stanch, their ills to mend, Nor drop Love's blessings sure and fast And be to them who need a friend.

"ADAM, WHERE ART THOU?"

The word of Spirit, wafted on the windOf Eden's evening bowers and sunset trees—The eternal tone of Truth, that is behindThe dark discord of earth's inharmonies—Trembling they heard it—and we hear it now,Probing the darkness—"Adam, where art thou?

"LORD, I BELIEVE."

"Lord , I believe; help thou mine unbelief"In every enemy, sin, fear, and grief; That monster shadow, death—he fights as chief!"Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief!"

"HE LEADETH ME"

He leadeth me—I love the words—He does not chide nor drive; And where He leads, this shepherd good,To follow will I strive.

SING ME THY SONG

Sing me a song, bright morning stars,Of holiest harmony.

A SONG OF PROMISE

In the silent caverns 'neath hill and rock,In the sunbeam streaked with gold,Christ speaks to the hearts of his chosen flock,And the story ne're grows old.

"PRAISE YE THE LORD"

Praise ye our heavenly King!Let every nation singPraise to His name.

"GREATER WORKS THAN THESE."

O Bounteous legacy! what promise this!Could we neglect or take such word amiss?

THE BETTER PART

How maz'd and drear, amid his sticks and stones,His color'd pebbles and his bits of glass.

CONSTANCY

Ofttimes the daily current of my lifeDoth seem so clogged with error, that I fainWould break a clearer channel, where the strifeAnd fret of endless conflict, and the painOf beating 'gainst the rocks that long have lainWhere now my way appears, are all unknown;Where, free from every hindrance, I might gainIn depth and breadth, till perfect I had grown.
