Kindness

As a tender little idiom to the mother-tongue,So is kindness to the universal language of Love.

Love

O Love , that paints the colors of the rainbow,O Love, that gives the rose its sweet perfume,O Love, that sends the cooling, fresh'ning raindrops,Which make the parched valley bud and bloom;

A Prayer

Dear Father, Thou hast given so much to meOf healing peace, of crooked paths made plain,Of soaring thought, of comfort and of strength,Of plenty in the place of barrenness,Of friendship's pure and brightly-burnished gold,And silvern words of counsel, tender, wise; The beauty of the earth in winter white,And the glad, sweet blossoming days of spring; The comradeship of bird and stream and tree; The deep assurance of omnipotenceThat guards the purity and lovelinessOf all reality in pristine joy,Untouched by sin, impairment, or decay—So much of good hast Thou, in love, bestowed!Teach me to give.

A Prayer and the Reply

Dear Father-Mother God, I come!Oh, teach me how to pray.

Confidence

I know not when my path may leadTo joy serene, where sunbeams stray;I know but this—my every needWill be supplied along the way.

Broken Bonds

Oh , let us, like Paul and Silas,In the prison sing;In the depths of fear and darknessMake the earth walls ring!Let us sing, though pride doth tempt usSaying, Why should weHave so deep and dark a problemAnd such misery?

Step by Step

"Step by step will those who trust Him"*Find the way of God made clear; Each divergent path but showingThat the plan divine lies here.

My Refuge

O Love divine, whose tenderness no earth-born voice can tell,In every need I turn to Thee, and in Thy fullness dwell; The human heartache, fear, and pain, that seem so real to me,Must vanish at the healing thought of Love's infinity.

Freedom

Man was not born to fear,He is the child of Love; And as he claims his own,He lives all sin above.

True Sympathy

True sympathy is not expressedBy trembling at another's fear,By entering his cloud of grief,Holding as real the anguished tear.
