THE ROAD TO JERICHO

Dusty the road, in the heat of day,The road leading on to Jericho!Stripped of his raiment, by robber's blowWounded and faint, the traveler lay.

INSPIRATION

Let me keep the windows of my thoughtClean, clear, and bright,That the sunshine of eternal LoveMay enter and lightMy candle of inspiration.

THE WATCH

Like some sleep-fighting child, I cling to fear,With rest more close than hand-reach at my willOnly by bidding pain-nagged sense be still,Grasping the far-sought gift that lies so near.

EXEMPLAR

What may Thy servant do this day, dear Lord,To win a weary traveler to Thy door?

QUIETUDE

Let me be so quiet, Lord,So near and dear to Thee,That I can hearThy still, small voiceWhispering truthTo me.

She sat beside this sea long hours; She saw its many changing moods—Changing with those of sky and clouds.

"UPON THIS ROCK"

"Before the crowing cock has stilled his voice,Thou shalt have thrice denied me.

IF WE BUT REALIZE

We must bewarewhen we condemnunless the very snarein which a brother's fallenbecomes our pen.

HURRICANE HOURS

The hedge rose held against the blast,Above the frail fence bars,Reflecting Love's omnipotenceLike firmament of stars.

FORGIVENESS

Father , forgive themThe mocking words, the scornWhich fell upon the faithful sonWho gave his allThat those who heard might know Thy truthIn resurrection morn.

JESUS THE CHRIST

He was not trapped by human birth,Son of a virgin, Jesse's rod.
