Sanctuary

Let me pause here beside this open doorWhile gratitude floods swiftly through my heart:This is the little room that welcomed her,This the still place in which her thoughts found strength—A humble spot, a tiny "closet"—whereThat one whose heart went out to all mankindCould ponder God's dear love and tender care.

Awakening

I awake from dreams of sense,Wake with dawning in my eyes,As in thought the vision breaks—Man is never one who dies,Compassed in a meager span,But a living, changeless ray,Perfect, born of Spirit's will,Shining in eternal day.

Drink deep the inspirational wine,Truth's bread, oh share!Communion, Eucharist divine,Awaits you there.

This Is Our Church

Like a medieval fugitive from wrong,Who fled before his wicked enemyAnd found the church a sanctuary strong,Wherein to claim impregnability,So in this structure pure of Truth and LoveWe find our refuge from pursuing foes,A sanctuary safe, and high aboveThe fear and doubt and pain that would imposeTheir tyrant rule upon us.

God's Man

O man of God's creating, How beautiful, how strong! To thee, in boundless measure,The gifts of Love belong.

God Reigneth

God reigneth—yes, the darkest hourMust yield its false and gloomy power,When thought is turned from sense to Soul.

Sanctuary

I was afraid, weary and weak and ill,And turned in my great needTo Thee,O Father-Mother God,And found my peace.
