The Garden of Thought

The Father hath given each child of His careA garden implanted with seedlings so fair; The buds and the blossoms are molded above,Their petals all perfumed with meekness and love;Oh, blest is our God-given garden!

Consecration

Once when the daily round seemed dull and drear,This message came to me, divinely clear:Know, child of Mine, that all I askIs that thy daily taskShall with such loving care and tendernessBe wrought, that all who seeMay feel and recognize 't was done for Me.

A Morning Prayer

Dear Father, as I face the mornAnd watch the rising sun,I pray for light to do Thy will;I pray my thoughts may injure none,But bless them, every one.

Redemption

"Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell,"My heart's desire Thou wilt not scorn; For Thou, who doest all things well,Dost know my longing, newly born.

The Standard

When , like a flood, wrong thoughts would o'er me roll,Threat'ning to overwhelm, shall I, resigned,Bow 'neath their sway as to a master mind,Admit their right to cruelly oppress,Of health and happiness exacting toll,As ancient Hebrew bent to Egypt's yoke?

Appeal

God, my creator, Life divine,Thou art all good, forever mine.

My Need

I need to see the good that's all around me;I need to feel God's tender love and care;I need to know His angels still surround me;That Life and Love and Truth are ev'rywhere.

A Prayer

Dear God of life, raise Thou the dead,—In sin and false beliefs asleep.

I Learned to Sing

I learned to sing when shadows fellAnd days grew dark and drear; For though I made my bed in hell,God's tender love was near.

Thy Word

No other legacy I askThan that Thy Word reveals; It searches every hope of men,And human longing heals.

Victory

Temptation came to speak an angry word,—Instead, a prayer, that hatred's claim might yield.

Look Up!

How many times the human heart,Burdened with all its woe,Turns wearily to present Love,And meekly prays to know.
