Deep Desire

Dear Lord, of all the gifts Thy treasury holds,I seek that rarest boon, above all price,The one I long for most of all,The understanding heart:To know the need, unvoiced, untold; To give to hungry hearts the foodOf hope, love, and compassion; To reach beyond and free those bound by pride,Yet bruised and broken; With tender love, tact, and devotionTo break the bread of Truth,And show to them the tender careOf Father-Mother God,Which satisfies all longingsAnd brings to them true consolation.
