STRENGTH

"If thou hast run with the footmen,"—Aye, Lord, and the way was so longThat only Thy presence among usCould hearten us into song.

"THY WILL BE DONE"

My God, my Father, Love divine,Help me to blend my will with Thine.

The demand for church

I like to think of each church that grows up in a community as that community's answered prayer for the presence of the saving Christ—the message of God's love for humanity.

THE MASTER

The victor over sin and fear and strife,The Nazarene who taught all men the way,The Master of the verities of Life,—So often went apart alone to pray.

"THY WILL BE DONE"

The stubborn will and blind,The engine deemed a pow'r by mortal sense,That works within us—who can fathom whenceIt comes, or who can findThe reason of its spell and seeming thrall,That we should fail to hear or heed the call—Thy will be done?

JUST WAIT

Do all your days seem dark and dear,And do you shed the bitter tear?

GOD WITH US EVER

I wait no more, with anxious care,For stated place and times of prayer; All hours are mine to worship Thee,All places temples wide and free.

THAT WAR MAY CEASE

O God of nations, speed the dayWhen men to men shall brothers be,When right shall over all have sway,And in Truth's freedom all be free.

BROTHERHOOD

The crest and crowning of all good,Life's final star is brotherhood:For it will bring again to earthHer long-lost poesy and mirth; Will send new light on every face,A kindly power upon the race,And till it come, we men are slaves,And travel downward to the dust of graves.

"THE THREE-FOLD CORD."

If God is Life, and there is none but HeIn the full-orbed temple of the skies,Then what is death?

PERSPECTIVE

With face close-pressed 'gainst this o'ershadowing wallOf dense materiality, which seemsImpenetrable, immeasurably tall,Opaque; defiant of our sorry plight,Which thus permits no glance to left or right.

LOVE IMMORTAL

Sects, ye have your day and die,Eddies in the stream of truth,—The great current, sweeping by,Leaves you swirled in shapes uncouth,Born to writhe, and glint, and woo—Broken mirrors of the Blue.

THE ALLNESS OF GOOD

Good is omnipotent,Evil but seems;Love watcheth over all,Fears are but dreams.
