Daily Practice

While we may think of our “full employment” as a job, this week’s editorial looks at Mary Baker Eddy’s radical spiritual take on employment and its role in our spiritual practice.

What to do in the face of danger

If you’ve ever been gripped by fear, you know how paralyzing that can feel. Our guest, Suzanne Riedel, shares some experiences with facing fear, and how she’s walked away with spiritual lessons learned and more awareness of God’s protecting care for all of us.

If you've ever wanted to make yourself available as a spiritual healer—to help others through prayer—you’ll want to make sure to listen to this week’s Sentinel Watch. Our guest, Laurie Scott, shares what she’s learned about what it takes to be ready to accept calls and how to heal more effectively in general. Here’s a hint: It all starts with God.

The good fight

“Wrestling with, and yielding to, the truth of being is the only wrestling that leads to transformation and healing.”
“The renewed thinking that makes the biggest difference is discovering, or rediscovering, the spiritual idea of life that Christ Jesus gave and advocated for everyone.”

Get to know God: The “omnis” revisited

Five years after our “Omni” series—our four podcasts covering God’s all-power, all-presence, all-action, and all-science—we’ve invited Deborah Huebsch and Amy Richmond back to continue the conversation. They’ve both learned more about these “omnis” and what they mean. And they share how praying with the omnis brings healing to our lives and to the bigger-picture issues, too.
Wondering if your prayers are effective? Consider this: “When we’ve experienced even one instance of God’s goodness, we gain confidence that the same Principle operates universally.”
Facing a chronic problem, this author explains how “understanding the basis of Christianly scientific prayer—the perfection of God, and man’s inviolable spiritual heritage as His likeness” healed her.
At this time of year, many of us are thinking about making changes that could improve our lives, at least a little. Spiritual growth does that—though it’s more like a whole-life renovation. Our guest this week shares his own experiences with spiritual transformation and takes us step by step through the prayers that got him there.
As we look to make our prayers more active, more engaged, consider Jesus’ teaching that we hunger for righteousness. This heart’s desire “... is blessed of our Father, and it does not return unto us void.”
