While Christian Science claims to be a reinstatement of primitive Christianity, and submits as one proof of this claim the healing works which are similar to those performed by the early Christians, physical healing is not the fundamental purpose of Christian Science, and is not therefore, as our critic seems to believe, the only proof offered of its truth or of its Scriptural basis.
God means more to Christian Scientists than to other denominations; so also does Jesus and every event of his career and every word of his teaching.
Our critic refers to Christian Science as though it came under the category of systems, devised by the human mind, for the attempted removal of the discords of its own production.

On page 345 of the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs.
It is absolutely incorrect to say, as our critic does, that "the therapeutic side of Christian Science dominated everything else.
It is fair, I think, to say that our friendly critic has based his objections on the idea that Christian Science accepts the theory of verbal inspiration so literally that, like a certain famous lady, it would not spare a letter of that blessed word Mesopotamia, and that on this basis it has erected a scientific castle in the air.

TRUTH NEVER FAILS
