A writer in a recent Register-Leader "Signs of the Times" shows a lack of understanding of the subject of Christian Science, for nothing could be farther from the truth than the charge that Christian Science is a "mental narcotic," which "narcotizes the conscience and puts it to sleep;" rather does Christian Science quicken the spiritual perception and moral sensibilities of mankind.

My attention has been called to issues of your valued paper in which there appeared accounts of lectures delivered by the Rev.
According to statements made in two sermons on Christian Science which were reported in your paper, it appears that we should "prove all things; hold fast that which is good," but should beware of reading the literature of Christian Science.

Opening the Way

How marvelous is the experience when into the land of personal darkness, doubt, and fear there one day shines the light of Christian Science, dispelling sin and disease and bringing the radiant revelation of the kingdom of God, good, as at hand! How the heart overflows with joy and thanksgiving as a new-found liberty leads our feet into hitherto unknown paths of privilege! Then as the recipient of divine benefits begins earnestly and faithfully to study and understand the divine Principle which has brought health and wholeness to him, he gradually becomes fitted wisely to transmit the blessed message to others, and in due time the "King of kings" summons him to go forth to humanity as an ambassador of heaven.
