Truth brings a “new birth” and healing
Originally published in Spanish
As a child, I had difficulty seeing clearly. When I was eight years old, my mother had me examined by an eye doctor, who said I needed a cornea transplant. However, this surgery was not available in my country at that time. The doctor prescribed glasses, which I wore constantly. He recommended that I not read and told me that by the age of forty, I would be blind.
In addition, when I was a young adult, I injured my spine while working in a clothing store. The person who was in charge of opening the store and lifting the heavy shutter was not present that day, so I had to lift it myself, and at that moment I felt a strong pain in my back. Afterward, I had difficulty walking. I was diagnosed with a herniated disc and went through the surgery for it. The surgeon prescribed a special corset that I had to wear constantly to support my back. I was told that otherwise I could be paralyzed by the age of forty.
Many years later, when I needed to replace the corset with a new one, I found it was too expensive for me. In tears I would pray, “Father, only You know what the truth is,” and would ask for His guidance until I felt a deep peace.
