In what you’re doing right, rejoice!
Lavishing praise on others? That’s easy! Seeing the good in other people is a natural way to love. Even if they don’t recognize the goodness that they’re expressing or gaining, we are glad to acknowledge it.
Are we so willing, though, to see goodness in ourselves? Have you paused to praise yourself lately?
Maybe you wonder if such praise is even appropriate. Most cultures look down on self-promotion or boasting, and that makes sense. Bragging is certainly off-putting. But that’s not what we’re talking about here. We’re talking about acknowledging, in light of its source, the pure goodness we each have and show forth as children of God, who is infinite good.
