Severe leg swelling disappears

One morning when I woke up, one of my legs did not look normal. From toes to hip, it had grown wider than the other, so much that I had trouble putting on my shoe and pulling up my pants. It looked like the symptom of a pathology familiar in my country—elephantiasis.

I began praying about this immediately. Though I tried to hide the condition by walking at a leisurely pace, one of my acquaintances noticed and expressed fear for me. Locals believe this malady is the result of witchcraft, still a common practice in Africa.

Christ Jesus taught us that God, not superstition, is the power governing us. As I prayed, I saw that the effect of a magic spell is nothing more than imagination, and it can have no more power over us than we give it. I thought, “Should I allow myself to be the victim of a false opinion of mortal mind?” My emphatic answer was “No!”
