Why wait to be grateful?
“You don’t have to wait for anyone else, to be grateful!”
This thought came to me recently as I was working in my garden. The early morning was beautiful, cool, and so peaceful that in spite of my presence and the watering I was doing, a deer and fawn were calmly grazing just outside our garden fence.
I loved this morning! I felt I was living inside a beautiful painting. So how could it be that within moments, little anxious thoughts started nibbling away at my sense of utter peace, and the pure joy of the morning seemed to fade? For weeks, an undercurrent of anxiety had been running alongside otherwise full and happy summer days. “Not today!” I protested. In that moment I chose, very firmly, to face up to these nagging worries through prayer in Christian Science, instead of just trying to brush them off.
