HEALED OF TONSILLITIS SYMPTOMS

It was Christmas Eve morning. I was staying with relatives in England, having moved from Australia a few months earlier. And here I was with the symptoms of a bad case of tonsillitis. It had been a frequent complaint during my childhood and teen years, before I began to study Christian Science.

Knowing how ill I used to become during these bouts, I was concerned that I was going to spoil Christmas for everyone. Although I was new to Christian Science, I wanted to rely on prayer for healing. So when one of my relatives, who was training to be a medical nurse, offered a remedy, I politely refused.

We were so busy with various holiday activities, though, that I didn't take time to really pray about the situation for the rest of the day, almost hoping that if I ignored it, it would go away. Instead it got progressively worse—and by the time I went to bed that evening, I was feeling very sorry for myself. To add to my discomfort, there was a loud party going on next door, which, combined with the illness, made sleeping impossible.
