Prayer dissolves congestion
Human life is full of variables, which means we’re constantly making decisions. What to wear. What to eat. What route to take. We’re confronted with bigger decisions, too. What school to attend and what to study there. Whether to marry. Whether to rent or buy, and where.
It can seem as if it’s our job to pray to have things run smoothly, to be sure we’re not making the wrong decisions. And while I certainly appreciate how prayer to understand God’s great love for all of us shines into my everyday experience as direct and unmistakable guidance, I am learning that there is an even more powerful way that we are being guided as we pray.
An experience I had recently proved to me the healing effect of understanding that there is no possibility of failure in divine Science—the spiritual reality that is God’s ever-presence, omnipotence, and omniscience. On a Saturday before an important commitment on Sunday, I was on a biking outing with my family when the weather unexpectedly became quite chilly. I began experiencing congestion that would make it hard for me to follow through with my work the next day, and this persisted through the night.
