Praying with confidence for your community
Everyone has the ability to feel God’s presence and respond to God’s leading.
Have you ever thought that you would love to pray about a community issue, or even a world issue, but felt you didn’t know how? Or maybe you felt that your prayer couldn’t make a difference anyway. Well, I used to think that way, too, but then I had a lovely healing experience years ago that taught me how effective prayer in Christian Science can be.
When my son was at intermediate school, his jacket was stolen. Right off, I was determined that I was not going to just resign myself to this theft. Because it wasn’t in accord with God’s law of good, I knew I didn’t need to accept the notion that loss was inevitable. I knew that this misperception could be corrected.
At that time, my family had to be very careful with money, but that wasn’t what concerned me. It was the disillusionment that I was tempted to feel about our community. Could I not trust my community? Did I have to be on the alert so that I wouldn’t be cheated?
