Healed after bite from rabid dog

Early last year, I was bitten by a dog. It grabbed my right hand, and I screamed for help. The dog ran away, and there was a lot of blood flowing from the wound.

Immediately, part of a sentence from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, came to thought: “Accidents are unknown to God. . . .” Here is the full sentence: “Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God’s unerring direction and thus bring out harmony” (p. 424).

It was natural for me to “leave the mortal basis of belief”—to turn to God and trust that He was present and caring for me. I knew that there is never any chance involved in His care for us. I thought to myself, “You are all right.” Then I went home. The bleeding had considerably lessened by this point, and I wrapped the wound with a clean cloth.
