Yielding to God’s power dissolves bump
As a Christian Science nurse, I pray daily, acknowledging myself, my colleagues, and the patients I work with as the image and likeness of God (see Genesis 1:26, 27). Because each one of us reflects the qualities of our creator, divine Spirit, we are, in reality, spiritual, perfect, and complete, just as God is.
Last year, I became aware of an unusual bump on my wrist. Though it didn’t affect my work, I still wanted to heal it and was determined to do so by praying about it on my own. But over the next few months, there was no change.
When I shared my concern about this with my mother, she reminded me that Mary Baker Eddy makes this recommendation in the Christian Science textbook: “If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them. If they are unwilling to do this for themselves, they need only to know that error cannot produce this unnatural reluctance” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 420).
