Reading Science and Health healed me
Originally published in Portuguese
When I first learned about Christian Science, a practitioner of this religion told me that the essence of this Science is that God is perfect and that man, as God’s reflection, is therefore perfect. I later discovered that the basis for this statement was found in the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “The Christlike understanding of scientific being and divine healing includes a perfect Principle and idea,—perfect God and perfect man,—as the basis of thought and demonstration” (p. 259).
I saw no perfection in myself, but the Christian Science practitioner with whom I was in touch spoke with such conviction that I decided to examine the subject carefully.
I began to explore Science and Health. I read every explanation it gave of the correlative Bible texts in each section of the Bible Lesson found in the Christian Science Quarterly. I did this research for quite some time and never found any contradiction.
