Let God love you
In the midst of mental chaos, four words got my attention.
I didn’t feel well but went to bed, expecting to fall asleep and wake up feeling better. I didn’t. In the early morning hours, I was up several times, trying to pray in a way that would counter the aggressive and disturbing pain in my lower body.
As a student of Christian Science, I found it natural to pray, affirming God’s ever-presence and care. It was also natural for me to search the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer of Christian Science, for one or more statements of truth that would quiet both my thinking and my body. But in this instance, it was a frantic and chaotic search, full of turmoil. I wasn’t making progress.
Then, all of a sudden, in the midst of the mental chaos, I heard these words: “Let Me love you.” Clear and seemingly almost audible, they got my attention.
